Incidents that MUST be reported to the police:

• Damage exceeding $5000 in Alberta
• Injury or death
• Damage to public property
• Vehicle(s) cannot be moved
• Drive impairment

Remain at the Scene

• Hazard lights on to warn other drivers
• Move vehicles if collision is minor
• If vehicles cannot be moved, do not stand near or between them. Move to a safe place off the roadway.

Scene Management

• Assist injured parties immediately
• Call 9-1-1 if: injuries, risk of fire, fluids on roadway, airbag deployment, damage to public property.
• Park vehicle(s) in such a way to protect injured parties who are unable to be moved.
• Have fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and spill kits nearby.
• Contain spills with spill kit.
• Do not attempt to determine fault. The cause of the incident will be addressed through an investigation if required.
• Be fair and courteous to others.
• Speak with your manager before providing statements to media or non-law enforcement personnel.
